Pop-up cinema to bring the ultimate Halloween experience to Victoria Baths

Pop-up cinema to bring the ultimate Haloween experience to Victoria Baths

Thursday 25th, Friday 26th & Saturday 27th October

This Halloween, Manchester’s Victoria Baths will host The Village Screen for a series of frightening cinema events, with screenings of Jaws, The Lost Boys and The Witches.

On Thursday 25th, The Village Screen will show Spielberg’s classic, Jaws. What better way to relive one of the most nail-biting, water-based horror films of all time, than inside an actual swimming pool?

Next on the big screen is vampire thriller, The Lost Boys, on Friday 26th. This film follows two teenage brothers who move to a small town in North California, to discover a peculiar gang of bikers and mysterious deaths. This film successfully ties horror with comedy and is cited as one of the best vampire films of the 80’s.

And finally, it’s time for family-friendly (but equally freaky), The Witches, to hit the screen on Saturday 27th. This Roald Dahl adaptation follows an orphan who stumbles upon a secret witches’ convention to discover that they are plotting to turn all children in England into mice. Whether this is one of your favourite childhood films, or one you’ve never seen before, it’s a must-see Halloween film!

This is a rare opportunity to be spooked and entertained inside one of Manchester’s most impressive buildings, Victoria Baths. Victoria Baths is a setting of utter Edwardian splendour – the building’s tall, stained glass windows and gloomy eerie corridors make it the perfect setting for Halloween. Cinema-goers will be able to sit back and relax on candy striped deckchairs, or on the balcony overlooking the iconic Gala Pool, to watch the films, making it a completely unique and memorable film experience.

Ahead of the screenings, The Village Screen’s DJ will be spinning top Halloween classics alongside magical Halloween-theming (fancy dress is strongly encouraged). Some of the North’s finest street food vendors will be serving up fantastic Autumnal grub and The Village Screen bar will be open serving a selection of Thornbridge beers, cocktails, wines, Prosecco, soft drinks and fresh popcorn.

Whether you want to catch your favourite film on the big screen, or you want to experience something a little quirky before Halloween night, then this is the perfect combination. Tickets can be booked in advance at www.thevillagegreenevents.co
